about

debocs is a project initiated by Martina De Dominicis and Alberto Cissello with the aim of creating an online platform for documenting their movement and choreographic research. It collects sparse materials such as notes, thoughts and scores tracing their past and present works. Contents from the fields of dance, performance, video-art and creative writing are presented alongside their choreographic production, as complementary elements to the artistic research and valuable contributions to the process of creation.

Martina De Dominicis is Vienna based dance artist and choreographer.

After a career with several institutional dance companies across Europe, she begins in 2016 to collaborate with Rafaele Giovanola for Cocoondance company(DE/CH).

The ongoing collaboration with the company as performer, outside eye and as researcher in the creation of a movement glossary, stimulated the desire to investigate a methodology that flows in between practice and theory.

In line with this aim she is currently carrying out her MA studies in Movement Research at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz.

In Vienna she was part of Veza Maria Fernandez’s Amadora Llama (Tanzquartier Wien, 2018) and is currently involved in the new creation of Georg Blaschke (Premiere December 2021). She is also one of the founders ob Backpulver_training and feedback practices project.

In 2019 she co-initiated with Alberto Cissello the artistic duo collective Debocs. With the piece yet to be born they have been invited to perform in Germany, Austria, Italy and Croatia.

As a teacher she has been sharing her practice in ZZT Dance University in Köln, Otto Falkenberg Schule Munich, Dancearts Boris Nebyla in Vienna.

Alberto's interest in dance practice originates from his background as a hip hop dancer and extends to the theoretical discourse on movement research in contemporary dance.

At present, Alberto regularly collaborates with the Salzburg-based choreographer Helene Weinzierl, touring her pieces nationally and internationally. Since 2009, he has been working for several dance companies such as EgriBianco Danza, Oper Graz Tanzkompanie and Norrdans. In Vienna he was part of Eva-Maria Schaller's Sonic Textures (BrotFabrik Wien, 2018) and FEMENINE (ImpulsTanz, 2022)

In 2019, he co-initiated, together with Martina De Domincis, debocs.com, an ongoing documentation project related to their choreographic research as a duo. Together, they created yet to be born (2019), a performance that deals with the notion of transformation and that premiered in Bonn with the support of Cocoon Dance Company.
